Towers of change! Fawlty Towers star revamps staircase with new carpets in France

I confess that I loved Fawlty Towers when it was shown on TV many years ago. For me, there was so much memorable comedy in the shows.. 0ne of my favourites was the episode when a difficult guest came to stay – the indomitable Mrs Richards. The scene when Basil argues with Manuel over a horse bet he’d just made whilst checking her in – at the same time is desperate to avoid Sybil finding out about the bet – is very funny!

This story comes to mind because recently we fitted carpet for Rachel Izen, the actress who plays the part of Mrs Richards in the Fawlty Towers remake, now on stage at the Apollo Theatre in London.
Rachel has a home in the Lot and approached us to fit stair runners in her property.

The beautiful, strong and vibrant colour scheme is from the Bowloom carpet range – also known as Off The Loom. The manufacturer uses 100% pure New Zealand Wool to create the carpet; made with 3 ply yarn, it is more luxurious and durable than the 2 ply yarn often used in other flatweave structures. I think that you will agree from the staircase photos that the colours are striking and very attractive as well as being long-lasting.

Stair runners are ideal for fitting in French property’s like Rachel’s. As many of you will know, these older houses can be noisy with wooden staircases – and if wet, slippery too. So a stair runner can both lift the look of a property, and make it safer as well.

And – fortunately Rachel/Mrs Richards didn’t say…. ‘When I pay for a view, I expect something more interesting than that.’
