Snow, ski.. and carpets⛄️⛷

I enjoy our trips to the French Alps. This year, we have been twice already to fit carpet in the Alpine region for two separate clients.

Châtel, close to the Swiss border, is a beautifully unspoilt ski resort near to Lake Geneva and was our first visit in January. In February we then headed back to the Alps for a trip to Morzine just to the south of Châtel, and a popular location for expats.

This year has been a great one for the ski season. Covid restrictions have of course eased and the ski resorts have been very busy….

There has been plenty of snow, too! So much snow that when Joel and I travelled up recently we had to – literally – dig a pathway through to the house where we were fitting the carpet!

For the Châtel project, the carpet was laid in a ski chalet owned by two generations of the same family. The family use the property as a second home and spend time holidaying with their young children.

In Morzine our English clients had just returned from the States; this is their second spell living in Morzine and they are currently undertaking a major renovation.

The French Alps is a breathtakingly beautiful part of the country – however it does have a very different feel to much of the rest of France with its mountain fresh air and thermal spa feel in many towns.

However, some things are not different… a taste for carpet being one of them. Popular carpet makes such as Abingdon and Associated Weavers Stainguard brand were the choices of our two French Alpine clients – and of course these are loved by our clients throughout France.
