Out and about in the Dordogne

2021 has started as last year finished – extremely busy.

January has already seen us out and about visiting clients to measure up as well manage various carpet and flooring fitting jobs. This month’s diary is pretty full – so, thank you very much for your continued support!

Last week was a good example, as Joel and I travelled around the Dordogne. Obviously, we are all aware of, and stick to, the current health protocols in place.

I love the diversity of the homes we go to, and of course the people that we meet. Some days we may be estimating a job for a client living in a château, the next day someone living in a rural cottage or perhaps for an apartment in a ski lodge.

Our first stop was to measure a huge attic space, totalling 100 m2. Afterwards, we then visited a home which needs new flooring in a very large kitchen, as well as in the bathrooms.

Overnight we stopped off in the delightful town of Bergerac.

Day #2 was equally busy with no fewer than four calls. The first appointment was a gite complex, the owners of the property having just moved in over Christmas. The removal van arrived as we were leaving the property – the clients were at the end of the drive cutting off branches from a tree to allow them access….

For the last visit we looked at traditional patterned Axminster carpets – very unusual in these days of plain grey carpets.

The last measuring up was in a maison de maître, for stair runners. The hallways and stairways are over 10 metres long, very symmetrical with the hallways running straight down the middle of the property.

All in all, we travelled around 600km for this particular trip, covering the 46 and 24 departments: in fact, we had 9 appointments over the 2 days.

So far this year, supasoft carpets with their beautiful silky soft finish are extremely popular, clients liking the quality and luxurious feel they give. During the current times, I am sure that we all appreciate some comfort.
