July 4, 2018Patterned carpets have certainly come a long way since the 1970s. Some of you will remember the garish swirls and highly detailed patterns that were so prevalent at the time. However, patterned carpets are back and are now more stylish than ever before.
It’s easy to see why. With the huge range of styles – stripes, floral designs, bold colours, geometrics, contemporary or traditional, it is possible to create a customised look and feel for your home using patterned carpet. Below are our three top tips for choosing the right patterned carpet that will suit your property and give you many years of satisfaction.
1. Choose complementary colours. You can do this by including shades of the room’s décor into the carpet. If you do want more contrasting colour, ensure that they work well together (we have plenty of samples to help you do this!). Generally speaking though, pattern carpet will work in rooms which are decorated in relatively neutral colours, for example, cream, beige or grey.
2. Subtle is best. If your patterned carpet is too busy, this can make it difficult on the eye. By using more subtle patterns, you will create a more welcoming and relaxing ambience. Striped carpets are now extremely popular as they can make a small room appear bigger. Carpets with vertical stripes are also perfect for stairs and hallways.
3. Carpets which are resilient and long-lasting. The advances in technology have made it easier for manufacturers to produce quality and beautifully stylish carpet which is also hard-wearing and easier to clean.
