All aboard! Why carpet fitting in France is not only for houses…

Over the years we have been fortunate to lay carpet in all sorts of places: cosy city apartments, country cottages and several grand châteaux. Boats, too! We have supplied carpet on Mediterranean cruisers and indeed many other types of vessels.

In May we had another exciting assignment: fitting carpet on board a luxury river cruiser, Napoleon, a Belmond Boat in France.

These are not ordinary barges! They are top-of-the range boats – essentially luxury hotels on the water… the only main difference is that the scenery changes every day!

Napoleon was not the first boat we worked on for this company, which is part of Belmond. Previously, we fitted carpet on a number of their smaller cruisers. However, Napoleon is the biggest; and what an impressive vessel it is.

The fitted carpet was the Nature brand. It is what is known as “inside/outside” carpet made from polypropylene, the woven flatweave carpet for both inside and outside use. We laid it on the upper deck outside and comes complete with hot tub and jacuzzi!

We fully adhered the carpet to the steel roof to keep it safe and secure whilst on the water.

Nature is made in Belgium by Balta, one of our new European suppliers. All of the carpet (see photos) are natural colours, and I am sure you agree they look incredibly stylish and luxurious.

Napoleon takes you on a journey from the Rhône Valley down through into Provence, a truly beautiful setting. Andrea and I would love a voyage one day… 😊
