4 things you did not know about Jon The Carpet Man…

It has been quite a year for Jon and Andrea Prince. The birth of their second granddaughter; the opening of a new showroom; an increasing range of carpet suppliers and a growing order book has resulted in a busy time throughout 2018. In total there have been 365 new clients – exactly one for each calendar day. So we decided to catch up with Jon and find out more about what motivated the family to move to France, their thoughts on the past year and their plans for the future.

1. What brought to France? “We lived in Torquay in a small apartment with no garden… in France we now have plenty of space with our house surrounded by gardens and woodland. It is a great place to bring up our family, giving Joel the freedom to explore outside. And safer too.”

2. Any particular highlights of this year? “There have been many but I will mention two. The birth of our beautiful granddaughter Olivia is obviously extremely special and who joins our first, Layla, now 4 years old. From a business perspective, we have got through some very challenging conditions given the uncertainty facing many expats. Despite this, we are helping more and more customers – and now have 2,000 on our books. Quality carpet will always be popular with our customers who love the look and feel of it in their home.”

3. Have you any amusing stories you would like to share? “Our son Joel is 14 and we offered him the chance to go to the annual trade show in Harrogate this autumn. He was keen to go and the school gave him permission. Then we told Joel he’d need to look smart, with new shoes, shirt and trousers – he was less keen after that! However once we got there he enjoyed it and spent much of the time talking to a Chinese delegation, bringing back lots of samples of artificial grass: China is the world’s leading supplier.”

4. Talking of China, we understand that you also have a new Chinese carpet manufacturer? “Yes we do – Himalaya Carpets. They have an excellent range of carpet, including one which contains 20% yak hair as well as 60% wool and 20% nylon. Yak hair is smooth, soft and warm – making it a good fibre to mix with wool and man-made fabrics. We now also have samples available.”

Next year, Jon is seeking to further increase the stock at the showroom at Treignac for both English and French speaking clients. Like 2018, it promises to be another eventful 12 months…

Jon, Andrea and all the Jon The Carpet Man team would like to thank all their customers past and present for all their support this year. Hope to see you soon.

We have a house in Paunat and would like some jute carpets fitted in the bedrooms. Also a jute runner up the staircase (which turns) and a jute runner along the landing. Can you supply and fit this? If so, do you have samples we could look at.?
    Regards
    Tim
